Ioannis Iliopoulos holds a Degree in Biology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in collaboration with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ Heidelberg). He joined the Medical School at the University of Crete in 2008 as Lecturer and since 2014 as Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics. He is currently head of the Computational Biology Group at the Medical School of the University of Crete. His main scientific interests are Information Extraction from Biological Texts, Protein protein Interaction network analysis, Comparative Genomics, Genome Evolution and Computational & Evolutionary Biology.
