Dr Lagani obtained his Ph.D. in Operations Research in 2009, from the University of Calabria, Cosenza, Italy. He is currently a Post-Doc researcher at the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece. Dr. Lagani has a long standing experience in developing machine-learning / data-mining methods and in applying them on bioinformatics and biology problems. His main areas of interest are Causal Discovery, Biomarker Identification and Integration of -Omics Data. He also participated in numerous international research initiatives, in particular the EU funded HEARTFAID, REACTION, STATegra and CAUSALPATH projects. In 2014 and 2015 Dr. Lagani was the co-instructor, along with Dr. Pavlos Pavlidis, of the course 'Introduction to Bioinformatics" for the Department of Computer Science of the University of Crete.
